What is the Best Antioxidant Food?

We all know how beneficial antioxidants are for our health, but if you really want to make the most of them and ensure that you are in the most optimum health, then you are going to need to be aware of what the best antioxidant foods are.

Top Antioxidant Foods

All foods are not equally good if you consider their antioxidant content, as some foods contain more antioxidants than others and are therefore better for you. There are a few foods in particular which are considered as being the best antioxidant foods and which will be discussed in more detail here.

Fruits are very high in antioxidants, at least most of them are. Basically all of the berry fruits are best antioxidant foods, such as cherries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, crowberries, blueberries, wild blueberries, and also grapes, oranges, plums, pineapples, kiwi fruits and grapefruits.

There are also many vegetables that are considered as being best antioxidant foods. This includes kale, chili pepper, red cabbage, peppers, parsley, artichoke, Brussels sprouts, spinach, lemon, ginger, and red beets.

Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables like cabbage and cauliflower are all very high in antioxidants, and can help to prevent cancer and fight off heart disease. They also reduce your risk of breast cancer and other estrogen-sensitive cancers such as cancers of the ovaries and cervix.

Tomatoes are also very high in antioxidants and considered as being one of the best antioxidant foods. They are fast becoming one of our favorite modern foods, because they are no nutritious and also because they are so versatile as we can cook them in so many different ways. They contain lycopene as well which is a relatively rare member of the carotenoid family, also found in pink grapefruit and twice as powerful as beta-carotene.

These are just a few of the many different foods that are high in antioxidants, and remember that there are also many drinks, such as green tea, which are high in antioxidants as well. You do not need to go overboard and start piling your plate full of these foods until you are gorging yourself, but rather start introducing them here and there wherever you can to increase your consumption of antioxidants and improve your health as a result.
