Using Acupuncture Medicine for Acne

Published by Author at 6:17 pm under Acupuncture

Acne is not a serious health problem but it is a problem that can severely affect one’s self esteem. Most often people think of over the counter washes, creams, and other topical medications to cure acne. In extreme cases medication and laser surgery is prescribed to treat acne.

For people who want to cure acne but do not want to experience the side effects that result there is an alternative. Acupuncture oriental medicine is an oft looked over cure for acne. When combined with other forms of treatment it can be a very successful way to treat acne.

Alternative Medicine

As with all alternative forms of therapy acupuncture medicine is not without its detractors. Most practitioners of Western medicine will not advocate acupuncture medicine as a treatment for acne. There are at the moment no studies that are approved to support the use of acupuncture medicine for acne.

There have been anecdotal stories of how acupuncture can be very successful in treating patients who do not wish to take medication. The plus side of using acupuncture is that when performed by a practitioner with a medical background there are no negative side effects.

Modern drugs can often affect the mood of a patient. There are also other side effects such as side effects on the reproductive system that have to be considered when undergoing treatment with drugs. These side effects are sidestepped when using acupuncture medicine. It is a completely natural way to cure acne.

Acupuncture oriental medicine will take into account the cause of acne in a person. Usually herbal medicines will be prescribed with the acupuncture treatment. A combination of herbs and acupuncture sees a high success rate in some people. A change in lifestyle and diet is also recommended to help the process.

Most practitioners will have a list of foods to avoid and foods that should be incorporated into your diet. The downside to acupuncture medicine for acne is that there is no guarantee of success. Some people may not respond positively to the treatment. The cost of acupuncture is also costly and will probably not differ much from what a dermatologist might charge.

However, for those interested in a cure for acne the natural way this is a good alternative. Talk to a dermatologist or doctor who also practices alternative medicine before proceeding with treatment. If acupuncture medicine does not help your acne then you may have to seriously consider the mainstream remedies for acne.
