Yoga and meditation are a combination that many find to be the perfect equation.  In yoga, meditation is one of the principals that are taught.  Yoga meditation is an important aspect of the yoga experience. Yoga is a spiritual experience more often associated with the Hindu religion.  It is used in this religion in order to unite the mind, body and spiritual awareness.

Yoga has gone somewhat mainstream with many taking up the practice and realizing the benefits of yoga.  Yoga is done through steps and yoga meditation is one of the important steps in this process.

Steps Of Yoga

The first step in Yoga is Yama and Niyama.  This first step has to do with morals and ethics.  Preparing the mind and body for a path that is ethical and right.  This step incorporates learning right from wrong.

The next step is Asana and Praynayama which has to do with the bodies posturing and positions of traditional Yoga.  This also has to do with controlling the breathing and beginning the phases of yoga meditation.

Next is Pratyahara which has to do with controlling the external senses and readying the body and mind for yoga meditation.

Dharana is the next step which incorporates the mind into the yoga meditation system.  This teaches the student how to meditate in a constant fashion.

Samadhi is the final step where a person has achieved the high level of yoga meditation that allows for them to be in a trancelike state.

The Benefits

Yoga meditation allows for a person to be able to relax and yet concentrate on a very intense level.  This can help reduce stress and allow for the person to pay attention to what is causing them stress in their lives and how to fix it.  By using yoga meditation a person can learn how to relax themselves and focus on their own self.

Yoga meditation can physically assist a person’s respiratory system and even help with their circulation.  The deep focus and concentration that can be achieved through yoga meditation benefits a person’s blood pressure and helps enable them to relax and body systems to slow down.  This in turn affects their over all health and many see an improvement.

Yoga mediation is a powerful way to help improve your physical well being as well as your emotional state by slowing down and relaxing an individual.  In this busy world, yoga meditation may be the answer for your stress filled life.
