How Do You Define Homeopathy?

Published by Christine at 8:02 pm under Homeopathic Remedies, Homeopathy

Homeopathy is the brain child of Samuel Hahnemann, a German who was born in the year 1755. This man felt that the regular medicine does not really understand the way the body reacts to diseases and therefore the treatment is not correct. He was of the opinion that the symptoms of any disease is actually the effort of the body to right itself and if you would want to get rid of the disease, you need to help it along not against.  This is a good way to define homeopathy.

The Three Laws Of Homeopathy

If you want to define homeopathy you need to know and understand the three laws of this alternative medicine according to Hahnemann. The first law is as described above, “treat like with like”. In other words, your relief comes when you increase the symptoms manifested by the body so the body could heal itself.  This law says that the body can heal itself and whatever symptoms you see is an effort towards that end. Hence, preventing those symptoms to run their course is preventing the body from healing.

The second law which helps define homeopathy is that only one medicine is required to fight all the problems and symptoms shown by the diseased body.  This is backed up by the premise that each disease is caused by one particular agent and therefore only one medicine needs to be administered per disease – not many as per the symptoms. Hence, according to homeopathy only one medicine should be sought that matches all the symptoms of the disease.

The third and last of the laws that define homeopathy is that the medicine should be administered in infinitely small dose. This is based on the belief that the body is already moving in the right direction by fighting the problem (disease) and it requires only a little push in the right direction. According to this belief, a large dose would be fatal while the smallest of doses would be sufficient to strengthen the ability of the body’s own immune system to fight the disease.

These three rules govern and define homeopathy in the briefest way we can describe. These laws point to the fact that homeopathy acts on the completely different premise from that of the modern medicine system – and even though there is still tremendous skepticism against it, you will find that it works. Today many choose to shift to homeopathy for treatment and find it highly satisfactory.
