Who said being healthy had to be no fun? If you’re trying to enrich your diet with antioxidants then be sure to add dark chocolate to the mix. That’s right, chocolate is good for you. Forget all the people who say that chocolate will only make you break out and add more inches to your waist.

You can achieve better health with dark chocolate antioxidant in your diet. Who wouldn’t want to do that? It seems like it’s always easier to eat a piece of dark chocolate then to eat more fruit and vegetables.

Health Benefits of Dark Chocolate

Besides getting good dark chocolate antioxidant when you bite into a piece of good dark chocolate, you can also expect to lower your blood pressure. This of course doesn’t mean that you should eat bars and bars of dark chocolate. You can enjoy dark chocolate as part of a balanced diet that includes exercise.

If you want to prevent heart disease then the powerful dark chocolate antioxidant will help you out. Don’t try to substitute the dark chocolate with milk chocolate though, milk seems to interfere with the bodies absorption of the dark chocolate antioxidant.

Milk chocolate and white chocolate are unfortunately not capable of providing you with the same health benefits. White chocolate has no effect on lowering blood pressure unlike dark chocolate. Milk chocolate does not have the same levels of antioxidants as you would find in dark chocolate antioxidant.

To achieve the same antioxidant effects as dark chocolate you would have to eat twice as much milk chocolate. Not good news for those watching their weight and counting calories. Eating a 100 gram portion of dark chocolate everyday and cutting back on other types of foods can help you to enjoy the benefits of the dark chocolate antioxidant.

The best way to enjoy the overall benefits of antioxidants is to eat moderate amounts of dark chocolate and other antioxidant rich foods. You will find that not only are you happier but you are healthier. Look forward to that little indulgence of dark chocolate by breaking up that portion of chocolate into several pieces and enjoying it after a meal or as a quick snack during your day.

Remember that you need to cut back a little on other foods if you want to enjoy dark chocolate without worrying about putting on weight. You could also start exercising a little more, for example doing a few extra sit ups than you already do.
