I just read a great article about the debate on the efficacy of acupuncture and the corresponding scientific data. In order to measure the effectiveness of acupuncture using the so called, gold standard, we acupuncturists have to dumb down our treatments to a set of agreed upon points, whether they are indicated for the patient or not. The beauty of acupuncture is the way that it addresses the specific imbalances of the individual and I believe the downfall of Western medicine is the way that it treat everyone like they are identical, as long as they have the same disease. To read more about this debate, search for the article by Leon Hammer on the Acupuncture Today website.
